However, I\u2019ve been relieved of some of those duties for the afternoon and it feels like Christmas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"408\" height=\"538\" src=\"https:\/\/quiltingonathread.clients-demo-websites.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/ee.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-382\" srcset=\"https:\/\/quiltingonathread.clients-demo-websites.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/ee.png 408w, https:\/\/quiltingonathread.clients-demo-websites.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/ee-228x300.png 228w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 408px) 100vw, 408px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>So what I\u2019ve been doing, on this Christmas in May, is working on my cathedral window quilt. This quilt is really going to be one of the most unusual quilts I\u2019ve ever worked on. I\u2019m finding that I like that a great deal. I\u2019m making this piece a mixed media project because I will be using buttons and possibly doilies to add details to the backgrounds of the window blocks. It\u2019s a cute idea, and a bit out of the norm for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"718\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/quiltingonathread.clients-demo-websites.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/ljhg-718x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-381\" srcset=\"https:\/\/quiltingonathread.clients-demo-websites.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/ljhg-718x1024.png 718w, https:\/\/quiltingonathread.clients-demo-websites.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/ljhg-210x300.png 210w, https:\/\/quiltingonathread.clients-demo-websites.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/ljhg-768x1095.png 768w, https:\/\/quiltingonathread.clients-demo-websites.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/ljhg.png 804w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 718px) 100vw, 718px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>My intention is that this quilt will hang in the sewing room of my studio for inspiration. And I do think it will be inspirational for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both my husband and I are traditional in taste, so I expected him to just despise this piece. But he thinks it\u2019s rather cute also. Bonus!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because of the heavy seaming and density changes involved in a cathedral window quilt, I\u2019m using the 360 Wonderfoot. I\u2019m also using a curved ruler to help guide my curves. And, yes, you can use a ruler with the 360 Wonderfoot\u2026the lip of the Wonderfoot is deep enough to be able to use a ruler without fear of the ruler slipping under the presser foot. It\u2019s not documented, but it\u2019s understood, that this is a plausible way to use this foot. This is working out very well for me on this quilt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to working on my cathedral window quilt, I\u2019ve also taken small breaks to doodle on a piece of vellum that I lay over quilts in order to audition stitch work patterns.&nbsp; This doodling is representing my more traditional style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"612\" src=\"https:\/\/quiltingonathread.clients-demo-websites.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/pie.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-380\" srcset=\"https:\/\/quiltingonathread.clients-demo-websites.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/pie.png 400w, https:\/\/quiltingonathread.clients-demo-websites.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/pie-196x300.png 196w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s enjoyable to be able to pop between the two projects and frames.&nbsp; I\u2019m able to actually get some work done on multiple projects after months of demolition and construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So that is how I\u2019m spending my unexpected Christmas in May.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our kitchen is still, under construction, and I&#8217;ve added a photo of yours truly using a nail gun to secure a bit of bracing \u2013 just so you realize how involved I am in this remodel.
