In my most recent travels, I stopped at an art gallery that caught my attention. Inside I found several interesting pieces depicting quilts and some pieces that looked distinctly familiar. It finally clicked…these pieces were artwork I had seen in quilting and embroidery magazines. And I recognized the artist’s name…Pietso.

I had chanced upon her very studio! I got to meet and speak for quite some time with the artist, A Jann Pietso! She is talented (obviously), fascinating and sweet.

Ms. Pietso has had her artist gallery in Gatlinburg, TN for decades and recently moved her gallery to the Morning Mist Village in the Glades Road Arts and Crafts Community, which is how I chanced upon her studio. I make several visits each year to the Glades Road Arts and Crafts Community in Gatlinburg.

You can find her original artwork in embroidery format and, occasionally, her artwork depicting quilts, in quilting magazines. She was sincerely interested in my craft and our discussion was amusingly a mutual admiration chat. Ms. Pietso admitted she had attempted to quilt in the past, but was not able to capture that skill…so she does the next best thing….creates images that include or focus on quilts.

With A Jann Pietso’s permission I snapped a few photos of her gallery for my blog.  I captured her behind her counter.  She truly was a fascinating woman!

I was so happy to find this shop and purchase my first of her prints. I’m sure I’ll be back for more!
